Popular Hollywood actor, Vin Diesel recently revealed that Marvel Studios want to make a Groot Planet X movie. Lots of fans and MCU lovers are trooping into his comments section to express how hyped they are for any future development.
Back in 2013, Marvel Studios announced that Vin Diesel would be voicing Groot in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. It was the 10th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and it was well received. After Marvel announced that they would be releasing a Guardians of the Galaxy movie in 2014, fans were excited. Many couldn’t wait to see how well the characters would be portrayed. When it came out, it was praised for its humor, acting and visual effects.

Guardians of the Galaxy (GOTG) raked in over 772 million USD worldwide and it had good ratings. The excellent portrayal of Groot also caught the eyes of watchers, they couldn’t help but give Vin Diesel his accolades. Even with the fact that all he said in the movie was “I am Groot”, many still thought his voice acting was perfect. He got paid millions of dollars and delivered a wonderful performance.
Vin Diesel reprised his role as Groot in the next Guardians of the Galaxy movies, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder. In late 2020, Kevin Feige announced that we’d be getting the I Am Groot series, which is about Baby Groot. The series of short films were loved by viewers and now, Diesel has decided to keep them on the edge of their seats with the Groot Planet X movie.

In his recent post on social media, Diesel talked about how his niece called him to thank him for making the I Am Groot series. Diesel also used the opportunity to praise the talented writer and director of the series, Kristen Lepore. He added that it was a blast making it and it also was a blast to watch it with his angels (his kids). At the end of his post, he then teased that Marvel wants to make a Groot Planet X movie.

In case you do not know, Groot is actually from Planet X, the capital of the branch worlds. Groot later joined the Guardians of the Galaxy and saved them a bunch of times. Lots of MCU fans have always wanted Marvel to explore more on Groot’s story. The I Am Groot series was short and many still want more of the tree-like alien.
The good news here is that we now know that Marvel is planning to make a Groot Planet X movie. What we don’t know yet is if it would be greenlit and if it’s going to be out soon. It’s worthy to note that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be out to cinemas in May, 2023. We can keep ourselves satisfied with that one, for now. If we eventually get to have a Groot Planet X movie, lots of MCU fans are going to love it.
The I Am Groot series currently sits at 6.7/10 on IMDb and a rating of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. It is available for streaming on Disney+.
